At what stage of your pregnancy did you start shopping for your baby?

I'm 20 weeks and still haven't got a thing for my baby. In my country baby shower happens two weeks after the baby is born. This means the mom to be actually has to buy important stuff for her baby. I feel like its too early for me to start shopping, or as soon as I start shopping something could go wrong. I'm being this paranoid due to my previous multiple miscarriages. Anyways do u think its ok for me to shop now, when did you do yours? Thanks|||I started shopping after I knew the sex of the baby, you don't want to wait until the last minute and scrambling to get everything you need. Whatever you buy just keep all the receipts and know the return policy in case something does happen to the baby. Just hope for the best and try not to worry. Good luck with everything|||I bought a few small things at 6 weeks like a couple of unisex outfits. The rest I wanted to hold off on until 12 weeks. My Mil though was visiting at around 9 weeks and she wanted to help us. So we put a cot, change table and dresser on lay-by. We didn't pick up the furniture until 36 weeks though. She actually bought a pram for us as soon as my husband told her I was pregnant at 6 weeks! My husband's aunt bought us a carseat at the same time. Everything else we bought throughout the pregnancy.

I did feel a little paranoid about buying things so soon but even my previous miscarriages couldn't stop my excitement.|||Since you have to buy big things, I would start looking now. I don't know if the country you are in has children's resale stores or consignment or yard sales, but those are great places to start for the big things (Except car seats. These should always be purchased new because they must be replaced after accidents and expiration, and you wouldn't be sure of the history). I kept my eye out for great deals on convenience items and big items (crib, play gyms, bouncers, etc). People tend to like to gift the 'cute' things (clothes, washclothes) at showers, whether you register or not.|||Oh some cultures do not accept a baby until it arrives as fact and some cultures consider the baby's birthday the day of conception. It's totally subjective. Some cultures find it very threatening to plan on something as having happened when it hasn't actually happened and bad luck. It's just up to you.

Yeah if you want to invite friends from the US just have one of your friends run a baby shower for you.

If you want to invite relatives and friends from your home country then wait.

As for me, I'm from the US and we have baby showers here. If there is a miscarriage think of your friends as being there to support you so you don't have to do it alone. It's all up to you though. There is no shame in miscarrying. It's not like it's your fault. No matter what the problem is, it wasn't your decision to have a miscarriage. So I hope you remember that.

Peace and luck.|||With my first I waited until 35 weeks and went baby crazy. With my second, I was more laid back and got a few brand new things a couple weeks before I was due. But I wasn't going to have any more children after my second and gave everything away, now I'm due with my third and started getting all the basics for super cheap or next to free at around 24 weeks after I found out the gender.

I think it would be fine to start to shop, just keep a eye on sales for the main things like car seats and cribs.|||I felt the same as you. Form me it was not until 33-34 weeks and I refused 2 showers. I have had three miscarriages and most of this pregnancy I have bleed and cramped. After my baby was born my doctor and I cried and held each other and she said she thought I was going to loose this one too. That is why I waited so very long to shop. Good luck. I hope you have a miracle baby too!|||I started buying things after I knew the sex of the baby..so about the same time you are now. I had a baby shower when I was 34 weeks pregnant and got a ton of diapers and clothes and it's a good thing I bought the big things myself because nobody got me anything but diapers and clothes.|||my case was simular to yours. My baby is almost 4 weeks old and my baby shower is n 2 weeks. I was scared to buy things as well due to 2 misscarrages but once i hit 20 week and had my ultrasound seen that he was a boy is when i started to shop.|||I started buying things when I found out I was pregnant (the big things anyway) like a stroller and a crib etc. I am sure at this point you are fine to buy things for the baby. Best of luck in everything. And positive thoughts of a healthy baby!|||We didn't buy much until after we found out the sex of the baby. I bought a few things here and there before that but after we found out she was a girl, we started buying girly things. : )|||I started at 23 weeks, there was the crib that we wanted for less then 200$ on sale so e bought it and put it up when my baby was 6 weeks old|||I started as soon as I found out the gender with both of my pregnancies but just didn't take tags off things til later on
